Egg ~ citing

I've been hitting up all the stores around looking for things that say "Spring"!  All I'm drawn to, is egg's and nests.  This is S.P.R.I.N.G. to me!

My "shrine" to Spring!

This is a cupcake stand from ~ Hobby Lobby

The nests are from Hobby Lobby too!

This is from HomeGoods.

It has the little holes -  I think it's supposed to hold earrings...not here - it holds eggs!

I found this nest at Pottery Barn, a placecard holder.

This apothecary is from Joann's.

The egg's are from HomeGoods.

When it's closer to Easter, I'll add some bunnies and I'm all set for Easter!  *wink*

Cocktails with Sandra - Saddle Up!

Week 2: Ingredients for the Cowboy Cocktail

This Cowboy Cocktail get's a *thumbs up*!  I never thought beer, tequila and lime juice would be a good mix, but this really is good!  The mint leaves are a must for this cocktail.

A good drink to have after roping cattle all day!  Or, watching a sunset!

Happy Trails to you!  *enjoy*

Just Dreaming...

Wouldn't you love to have Candice Olson show up at your door and work her magic!  That's one of my dreams!

Candice if you ever decide to come down to the lower 48 ~ please come to my house!  I have plenty of rooms to keep you busy...and bring Chico too!

It was a nice dream!  *wink*

Winter, you can leave now!

Yes, I am allowing winter to leave now - Good-bye.  I am tired of snow, cold, wearing coats and gloves.

This was my *fun* today - seeing these heads popping through the snow!

This one caught my eye first, I thought it was the Loch Ness Monster rising from the snow!

A duck swimming in snow?

Deer love our yard - there were seven on this day.  It was a deer parade.

This is what I can't wait for to be popping out the snow soon!

Spring, you're welcome at my door anytime!  The sooner the better! *wink*

Show and Tell Friday

I'm joining Cindy at My Romantic Home today for Show and Tell Friday!

These are autographed pictures my mom *Joan* got in 1957 of Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando!

My mom flew to California on a propeller jet from Chicago in 1957.  She went with her friend Charlene to visit their friend Darlene, who moved to California after graduating from High School.

Darlene, worked at a doctor's office and one of the patients, worked at Paramount Studios and was able to introduce the girl's from "Chicago" to Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando!  Mom and Charlene were so excited to meet these Movie Star's and best of all, they got autographed pictures!  I wish I had friends who had connections like that today!

I think Elizabeth Taylor is the most beautiful woman ever!

And Marlon Brando was very handsome too!

My mom had these packed in a box for many, many years; so I decided I should take borrow them and display them!  My three siblings keep threatening to take borrow them from me!  It's like we're kids again!

These are great conversation pieces and I will never part with them!

Here's a picture of my mom *Joan* back then.  I think she looked like a movie star too!

Thanks for stopping by and looking at mom's Movie Star autographed pictures!  *wink*

Cocktails with Sandra or It's Five O'clock Somewhere!

I recently watched Julie & Julia and loved the movie and thought I should blog about something like that (who hasn't after watching the movie!).  I really didn't want to cook my way through a cook book, then I was watching my favorite show Semi- Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee ~ the light bulb went off!  I love how she makes a meal and also pairs it with a cocktail.  I found my muse!  I'm going to skip the meal preparations and just showcase her fabulous cocktails!

So here goes, only one a week, not everyday, or I might be blogging from rehab!

Week 1:   Hula Girl Cocktail

The ingredients are for a punch bowl portion, so I pared it down for two {one for you and one for me!}.

I used Bacardi Dragon Berry Strawberry Rum (someone had recommended to use this in the comment section - and I couldn't agree more).  I put all the ingredients in the blender and poured for us.

I've never been a rum fan, however this Dragon Berry rum has won me over!  This is sooooo good, try it!

You can also make this for the kids, just remember ~ omit the alcohol!

I topped them off with the frozen strawberries.

This Hula Girl Cocktail would be a great drink in the summer or winter or maybe that next Bunko party!  They would be even better if you were sipping them in Maui!  Enjoy & *Aloha*

Be mine, not theirs…

I’m still on a pillow kick - it must be the winter weather.  Today we have frozen fog.   The tree's look pretty ~ and a good reason to stay in!

I was perusing through this site today and fell in love with their Limited Edition Valentine 2010 pillows. But, I didn’t care for the $75.00 each price tag.

Of course, I decide to make my own 2010 Limited Edition!

I didn’t make it exactly like theirs, slightly modified.

Theirs...

Mine...

I need to find another project and I promise, no more pillow talk for awhile!

The mail is on the couch!

My new *postcard* pillows - one I bought at Target and the other I made!

Close-up shot of the one I bought!

Today, I was in the process of *making* a postcard pillow and I had to run to Target ~ just for dog treats.  Of course I walked out of Target and my bill was $79.88...that's a lot of dog treats {that's what I'm going to tell hubby!}.  I couldn't resist this pillow - it was $19.99 and I thought it would look great with the one I was making!

This is the one I was making!  I printed out a postcard image from The Graphics Fairy on an inkjet cotton sheet and then sewed it on cotton muslin and stuffed!  Viola!

You can pick this up at all the craft stores!

This is the kind of mail I enjoy getting! *wink*

Measuring cup of love

I'm a big fan of Paula Deen's - and she has one cooking utensil that I am envious of!  Have you ever seen her using these Pewter Measuring cups

These are all I'm focused on when I watch her!

I recently watched this episode of Paula's beautiful Savannah, GA home on CMT Cribs.  Her kitchen is spectacular!  I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the measuring cups, she must have them tucked away in a safe place...considering how much they cost!

I would love cooking everyday if my kitchen looked like this!

Paula, I'm going to save my nickels and dimes and one day, I'll have pewter measuring cups too!
