June 25, 2009 ~ Eric's Birthday

June 25th was Eric's birthday {my hubby}. It was sad, not that he was a year older, but, first hearing about Farrah Fawcett passing away, and then it was even more strange hearing about Michael Jackson passing away.

Everyone who wished him a "Happy Birthday" said ~ "you'll never forget this birthday"...no he will not. Sad as it was, we went to Lake Geneva, WI to have dinner and celebrate his birthday. E and I got married 9 years ago in Lake Geneva on the paddle wheel boat ~ The Lady of the Lake. We decided to go there and see if the boat was still afloat ~ if it's not ~ ship worthy ~ we're not married anymore! Just kidding! We had dinner and then walked around the beautiful town at sunset.

This is the Lady of the Lake, we were married on it on July 8, 2000.

As always, E cannot remember things well - I had him take this picture because I said "they removed the paint from the door ~ it was white when we got married" Of course, he disagreed with me and said it was always this wood stained color...

This was from our wedding day......

This is me and my cute little niece *Grace*, she was my flower girl and we're standing behind the white door! Okay, there are two slats that are stain color - but the majority of the door is white! I was right!

Here's a great picture E took of this angel on top of a water fountain - and the crescent moon.

I know, the title is spelled wrong ~ my cute little niece *Camille* made this card last year. I think it's very appropriate for the Farthers!!! Happy Fathers Day!

A week of Vacation and Island Sand ~ well sort of!

I took a week off of work to ~paint~ however, first, I needed to remove an endless border that was glued on with super~duper tornado, hurricane proof glue – thank you former owners!

The reason I wanted to paint was, I've always wanted to put my “holes” in our walls and hang things where I want them to go and not in the previous owners “holes of choice”. I spent three days removing the border – sanding, washing walls and then painted with Ralph Lauren ~ Island Sand ~ what an appropriate color for someone who should be enjoying some island sand, and not painting it on her walls!

What inspired me to paint was this wall hanging I found at Pier One. I saw it a few months ago in the store. It was one of those things that stuck in my mind when I saw it and I knew I had to hang it somewhere!

What an easy thing, paint my hallway and I'll hang it – so simple! I went to my local Pier One and the sales woman saw me looking at it ~ she said, “you know, that was in an episode of Grey's Anatomy” ~ that didn't do anything for me, I've never watched the show...I then said, “is it heavy?” and she said “no, not at all” ~ ”Sold” I said!

I brought it home – and wanted to take a picture of it in the box, of course little Conan {furry kid} had to get in the picture! I then painted and painted!

Here's how it looks on the wall!!!

Sorry!!! I couldn't resist adding a picture of HGTV's cutest hunk!!! Carter Can!!! Oh, yes he can! *wink*

Here it is on the wall, and I made my own holes in the wall!!!

I love it, and it was worth all the pain and PTO I sacrificed for it!

Say Yes to Vinyl ~ Say No to Wallpaper!

I've spent that past 3 days removing endless yards of wallpaper border from our house. The previous owners loved wallpaper and borders...every room has it...I've been slowly removing their passion. They glued everything down with super-duper hurricane, tornado, cyclone proof glue. I have been scrubbing and cursing. All I can say is, I hate wallpaper and borders...never in my life will I ever put either up!

What I do like, is the new vinyl wall art. I've found them at Joann's, Hobby Lobby, and here's a site I found online called Vinyl Attraction. You can even customize your order too! They are so easy to put up, and if you want to take it down, it takes seconds! You can find these almost anywhere and you'll enjoy the results!

I put the saying Bon Appetit in the kitchen and then going down the stairs to the basement I put this cute chandelier. I hope nobody trips going down the stairs looking at it!

They have endless phrases and designs to choose from. So please, do someone/yourself a favor, don't do wallpaper/borders! Say yes to vinyl! *wink*

Flea Market Fun!

I've been going to the Kane County Flea Market for many years now. I always seem to find a treasure each time I go. I usually go with my friend Pat. She always has to stop at the Funnel Cake stand. I think I gain weight watching her eat these! Of course she weighs about 90 lbs.!

Enough about the junk food! I recently picked up this treasure ~ a doll bed.

Many thought it was a baby bed/crib, no it's not. I imagined it painted white and making it a Flower Bed.

After sanding and spray painting it several times ~ here's how it turned out!

I did try to get my two doggies to see if they would like using it as a dog bed, but they wouldn't have anything to do with it!

Brighton and Conan {our furry kids!} ~ it was hot out!

My First Post!
