Toy Truck Plant Holder

I've been searching garage sales and thrift stores for some old toy trucks -
and coming up empty handed.

I was at Hobby Lobby on Saturday and found this replica of a toy truck in the 66% clearance aisle.

I want to use old toy trucks as plant holders!
I'm not to picky about the condition they are in
since I want to spray them all one color.

Just out of the body shop with a new coat of paint ~

a couple of coats of Krylon Ocean Blue

the perfect parking spot now

loaded a little Dahlia to the bed of the truck

I'm still on the search for old trucks
hoping to add more to my fleet~
a rainbow of toy trucks!

  1. That is so cute and exactly what I've been wanting to do with an old truck Hubby had when he was a child. I just haven't been able to find a pot or pots that will fit inside. Tried just lining it and putting soil in it, but that didn't work. Thanks for the inspiration and the nice comments on my blog.

  2. I love this! The blue color is so pretty! Just like you, I was on the hunt for a little toy truck and found the same one at HL...painted mine white and put a bird's nest on top...check it out in my shed! http://threepixielane.blogspot.com/2010/06/girls-shedno-boys-allowed.html

I will have to find another one...love the bright color of yours! Thank you! Christie

  5. What a great idea! I have a vintage children's toolbox that I'm using for a planter but this is even cuter!
