Easter Patina

I'm preparing to host Easter this year with my family and here's a project I've been working on for the ~kids~ table! 

I got these galvanized items, but I thought I'd like them to look a little aged. 

 Kind of Pottery Barn-ish!

I used to do stain glass (a long time ago) and used patina to darken the solder. 

 I stopped at a stain glass store and picked this up. 

Wear gloves when you use this - it has that word POISON on the front!

Here's a side by side  ~ the patina one is on the left.

After the patina, a splattered them with a turquoise craft paint -  to add to the patina look.

These are going to be at the ~kids~ table!

I used a stencil for each of the ~kids~ first initial.

I made the little eggs and put a reduced postcard image in them. 

This postcard was sent to my Grandpa in 1911 - he had saved all the postcards he received when he was a boy.  These will be a nice sentimental memory of my Grandpa Jim!

For the centerpiece, I added an old chocolate bunny mold.  It goes well with the patina.

I hope the ~kids~ enjoy these!

Easter decor ~ thanks Pottery Barn

When I was lurking shopping at Pottery Barn recently, I spotted these Vintage Paper Eggs.

I thought they were the most adorable little eggs ~ then looking at the price tag $19.00 for six paper eggs...eeekkk!  I set them back down on the table.  Then the wheels in my crafty little brain started turning!

I returned home to Craft Central and went to The Graphics Fairy!  I used four of her Easter vintage images and made eight of my own little hanging eggs! 

I printed three images for each egg on cardstock.  Used an oval template and cut them out.  Folded them in half, glued them together, added some glass beads (instead of glitter) and then added the gold cord and bead on top!  ~Easy~

The Willow Tree is - branches from Michaels, they were $1.29/ea. and I used three for the tree.

Everything I needed to make this paper egg project was in my craft closet, so this didn't cost me anything!  For $19.00 I could probably make about 200 of these ~ but eight is enough!!!

Valentine's Day Flea Market Window

We've all seen these and purchased these at the Flea Market's.  How can you resist these with the chipping paint and all the character it has?

I picked this window up last year and I use it as a large picture frame. 

Hubby was *tidying* his home office and gifted me with a box of transparency film that he was going to toss out.  He asked if I could use them for anything...ding-ding-ding...of course I can! 

I've been printing out pictures on the transparency film and putting them in this window frame!

I printed these images from here and here.  I taped wrapping paper on the back.  It's hard to see, it's brown paper with a lace print (from Dollar Tree!).  Usually, I don't put paper on the back, this gives these images more dimension.

I taped each of the transparencies to the corners of the front side of the glass with double-sided clear tape.

I have printed Black & White photo's for this and it looks great.  Soon, I'll print out some Easter images!  If you have a box of transparency film hanging around - try using them!  They still sell them in the office supply stores too.  I know, because I had to buy another box of them already!  *Enjoy*

Egg ~ citing

I've been hitting up all the stores around looking for things that say "Spring"!  All I'm drawn to, is egg's and nests.  This is S.P.R.I.N.G. to me!

It has the little holes -  I think it's supposed to hold earrings...not here - it holds eggs!

When it's closer to Easter, I'll add some bunnies and I'm all set for Easter!  *wink*

Mr. Wonderful

Here's Mr. Wonderful or Prisoner of Love! This one, scares my hubby! I've taken down all the Xmas decorations and I'm preparing for the next holiday (I don't celebrate Groundhogs Day!). This little project was inspired by this guy from The Graphics Fairy!

I printed him out on card stock and also used a Valentine's Day postcard image from T.G.F. - and placed him in a little bird cage! I made his wings from sheet music.

He may be a Prisoner of Love - but he has the key right above him to escape if he wants to!

I Can't Wait for 2010!

I am ready for 2010 - let the new decade begin ~ out with the old one! My new quote is "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." No, I won't be spending my New Year riding on a Ferris Wheel, but I will start doing all the things I love! *Inspire*

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house...every creature is stirring here - cause we have last minute things to get! Happy Christmas Eve!

Snowflakes and Santa!

I made a snowflake! These are so easy and fun to make! I made this one with six sheets of paper, cut 8.5 x 8.5.

I copied sheet music on both sides of paper and followed the instructions! I think I may make some smaller ones to put on gifts!

Here's a picture of my favorite Santa I have. This was my Grandma's. She always had him displayed in her china cabinet at Christmas. This Santa and I were both made in the same year (he has a sticker on the bottom)...we both look pretty good for 29 years old!!! *wink*

I need to start doing some Xmas shopping today, I think I'll have to hurry home so I can make a few of these! *wink*

It's Fall - Ya~All!

We seem to forget about about Fall! If only the color's of the tree's would last a little bit longer. I took a few pictures of the tree's around our house right before Halloween - I'm glad I did, the very next day we had rain and all the leaves were down. Rake time.

This is all I did this year on my front steps (we were busy every weekend in October), I usually go *way-way* out decorating for Halloween and for Fall. The Boston Ferns that I planted this summer are still doing good and I got some fake mums to add some color ~ the pumpkin is real!

If we only had several months of these colors! Now we have bare trees and soon snow...boo hoo! How many days till Spring? *wink*
